Who We Are
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics @ Minnesota (oSTEM) is the University of Minnesota chapter of a national society dedicated to educating and fostering leadership for LGBTQIA+ communities in STEM.
Students of all areas of study and identities are welcome!
oSTEM empowers LGBTQIA+ people in STEM to succeed personally, academically, and professionally by cultivating environments and communities that nurture innovation, leadership, and advocacy.
We host a variety of social events and professional development workshops ranging from study sessions to lab tours, to meetings with professional scientists and engineers, and much more!
As we conduct our work, we are guided towards a shared future: we envision a world where all members of the STEM community can pursue their work in a safe and supportive environment that celebrates their contributions and differences.
At oSTEM our mission is:
- To foster community and visibility for LGBTQIA+ students at the University of Minnesota and create a community of support at the University.
- To identify, advocate, and address for the needs of LGBTQIA+ students in the STEM fields.
- To educate, empower and provide professional development for LGBTQIA+ students in the STEM fields.
